Halloween and Apples

We had a great time tonight forming some more relationships with our neighbors as we dressed the kids up and set out seeking candy.  There are many wonderful people who live so close to us, and we are in the process of being more intentional about forming good connections with them.  Tonight was sort of step one for us.  Future intentions are to take evening family walks down the street, to take treats for everyone close to Thanksgiving, and to have an open house around Christmas.

Here are some pics of the kids all dressed up.  The greatest part:  One of our neighbors hadn’t bought any candy, so he ran inside and came back with an apple for each of our kids.  When we got home, Liam and Ariana both began saying, “We want apples!”  Two buckets full of candy, and my kids wanted the nutritious option.  Go figure. 🙂

  1. Soooooo cute! I love Ariana as the mushroom! these pics made me smile. Can’t believe how big they are! Thanks for sharing. 🙂 Maybe Travelocity will higher Liam for their ads!

  2. Hey Courtney!

You, my friend, have a beautiful family! Your kids are stinkin’ adorable! Kilee was Elmo this year. It was hilarious, a lot of the kids actually thought she was Elmo. Our church was having a fall festival last night, but we stayed home like you all. We were thinking, is there a better opportunity to talk to all of our neighbors than Halloween? I’m praying that we can be more intentional in building those relationships this year.

I totally agree with your earlier post on our blog. We totally HAVE to get our kids together. We are in the last leg of our infant adoption, too! God has led us to an adoption agency right here in the city and we are waiting to hear if we have been chosen for one of several African American infant adoptions they have coming in the next two months! We are so pumped. We’ll let you all know how that goes! From what we have heard, we think it’ll be a little boy! Please pray that the birthmom will have made a concrete decision, because we are only foster parents for the first 30 days and she could technically revoke her choice during that time. God is in control, though.

    Love you all!
    Monica

  3. They are so cute! I’m glad you guys had a good time. 🙂

A little off topic- what kind of sling do you use?

  4. They are so cute=)

Annalee- I was thinking the same thing about Travelocity.

Courtney- I wish my kids even knew apples existed when they came in with their Halloween candy last night!

  5. How cute!!!!!! But then, what else could they be? Great and original costume ideas. Peepaw wants to know if Ariana left the mushroom cap on? Love you guys!!!

  6. Annalee and Mandy-maybe we will sign him up for Travelocity. 😉

Monica-totally agree about getting together. I miss you all!

Kacie-we use Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. Bill’s mother bought it for me after Ariana was born, and I absolutely love it!

Mom-the hat was a little big and fell off at times, but Ariana never took it off. Our little girl loves playing dress up and was quite proud of her hat. She kept pointing at it and saying, “Cute!”

  7. They are so cute! I love the theme!!! yeah!

Hey, I haven’t heard how you like sonlight PK4/5, isn’t that what you are doing? I would love to hear how it is going.

  8. Their costumes were so creative and precious!

  9. Becky,

Sorry I’m just now answering you. We are actually doing Sonlight P3/4 this year, and we love it! It is so much fun to have that sweet time with Liam (and a little Ariana) where I get to see him light up and learn so much from those amazing books. Love you!

  10. Hey Courtney, we need a pregnancy update! When is your official due date? How are you feeling? Missing you!!

  11. I LOVE the mushroom hat! 🙂

  12. Will we get to see you guys in Paducah over the holidays?
