This has been an amazing, but very HOT two months. We have come up with many indoor activities because we have not been willing to battle the heat much, but we’ve still been loving each other’s company.
Some of our happiest news is that we bought our first house. Yeah! We will move in at the end of September. It’s a tiny little house (my dream starter home) with a large yard. Everything in the house has been re-done, including new pipes. It’s amazing the work the previous owners did to it. After looking off and on for three years, we are very excited to have a house we love and that fits all of our needs and desires. We will actually be living in Southern Indiana, and friends of ours have told us that means we’re Hoosiers. We’ll see.
We also are finally going through the membership process at our church, Sojourn Community. When we started going at Easter, the six-week course you have to go through for membership was halfway over, and then they broke for the summer. We are in full swing now, though, and will hopefully be members (partners as they call them) in a few weeks. I am already getting some great opportunities there leading kids worship once a month and mentoring a young married woman as part of their Titus 2 Ministry. We are making many friends that we have already grown to adore.
Bill is still working for Humana and is getting amazing opportunities there, working overtime and learning many new skills. His supervisor and team lead have been great to him, and we praise God for them and the job He graciously provided for us. He also just interviewed for a team lead position (that’s a step up from him) but we haven’t heard anything yet.
I am in my second trimester now, and I am still feeling well. I have changed to a doctor in Indiana who is willing to let me try to VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). There are few doctors in Louisville willing to try because of silly lawsuits, and my original doctor was one of them. My due date is February 29th–leap day!
As far as the kids go, August was the month of sickness. It started with Ariana who had a sinus infection and high fever and moved to Liam who had some other kind of bug with a high fever. Poor babies! Other than that, Ariana, almost 10 months old now, is getting huge. She weighs 20 pounds, is cruising all over the apartment, and loves to say “Dada” (go figure), “more,” “all done,” and tries to repeat anything you ask her to (very different from Liam who didn’t start talking until he was almost two). Her brother is her best friend and favorite entertainer. We have never gotten her to laugh as hard at us as she does at him. It is sweetly cute!
Liam is stringing words together, counting to 10 (and 20 with help), saying please, thank you, excuse me, and sorry, and becoming more and more of a boy. I love it! He is a great source of joy to us. He also sings perfectly on pitch and has entire C.D.s memorized (at least the pitches). 😉 Probably his greatest feat this month, though, was beating me in our home bowling version using cups and a bouncy ball. I’m not kidding. I didn’t let him win. I was just pitiful and he was a natural born athlete. Maybe it’s because I didn’t use his method. You can watch it below and then look at a few new pictures.
